    I have to admit, most of my turning experience is in aluminum. I'm looking for a steel cutting insert (WNMG) that can be used for roughing and finishing. I have used Sandvik 4220 with a PM chip breaker, and Seco TP2000 with an M5 breaker. Both have the same issue. They work great at .1 DOC (radius) and .015 feed and happily break a chip.

    I run that kind of RPM in aluminum on parts twice the size. DOC sounds pretty good, I have had to get up into the mid to high .02's on the feed rate a lot of times to break chips with larger stuff. I'd up the feed, or try a chip break cycle. The correct insert for what you are doing with a chip breaker would probly fix your problems.
